Leaving to Provide
On going out alone so that others don't have to go without.
There is a version of independence that is only about the self. This is not that.
The image this journal is built on is simple. A wolf leaves the pack, not to escape it, but to find food for it. The distance is the point: someone has to go further so that the ones at home can stay where they are.
Independence is not the absence of connection. It is the freedom to choose what you carry.
The road out
The road out is long and mostly quiet. You learn what you actually need, and what you were only told you needed. You learn who you are when nobody is watching the work.
And then, somewhere along the way, you meet others doing the same thing. Different routes, different reasons, different weight on their shoulders. Nothing to prove to one another. Something to recognize.
What this space is for
This journal will collect the things picked up along that road: records, images, clothes, conversations, people. Not because they fit a theme, but because they were worth bringing back.
This is a sample entry. It shows how a personal essay looks on the site: a lede paragraph, section headings, a pull quote and a closing note.
